Prior to your child starting at The Willow, we invite them to visit us and take part in activities at the nursery with the other children. This provides an opportunity for them to meet their teachers as well as their new friends and to familiarize themselves with the school setting. Parents can at this stage meet the teachers and school secretary and ask them any questions that they might have.
We complete a Child Profile to help us know all about your child, so that the teachers can do everything possible to make sure that your child has a happy beginning to their school life at The Willow. Your child’s happiness is our primary concern and ensures that your child’s progress can be made to the best of his or her capacity.
Partnership with Parents
At The Willow we recognise the importance of being in a partnership with parents and we welcome the involvment and support of parents within the nursery. We are keen to foster a good and happy relationship between the school and home environment at all times. We have an open-door policy and parents may request a meeting with Virge or Caroline, or their child’s class teacher to discuss their child’s progress at any time. We also love it when parents come in to talk to the children about their jobs, or just to read a story.
We encourage parents to join in the many exciting events which are held throughout the year, including a monthly coffee morning and termly drinks parties. In the summer term we have a Sponsored Toddle to the bandstand on Clapham Common, followed by a picnic with the parents afterwards. Our summer term highlight is our our wonderful Willow Sports Day where the children show their athletic prowess and the parents even have their own races!
